Cebu City (June 11) -- Over 1,000 government employees from different regional line agencies in Cebu will gather tomorrow at the Malacañang sa Sugbo (MSS) for the wreath-laying and flag raising ceremony in celebration of the country's 111th Philippine Independence Day.
Local government units in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapulapu and Talisay as well as the Provincial Government will have their respective wreath laying and flag raising ceremony at 8:00 a.m., which is simultaneous to that of other areas across the country.
In Central Visayas, Cebu and Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental will be the main points for the annual independence rites where the latter will have Finance Sec. Margarito Teves as the guest of honor during the observance.
Visayas Ombudsman Pelagio Apostol and Presidential Assistant for Central Visayas Felix Guanzon will deliver the independence messages for Cebu at the MSS while Sec. Teves is expected to fly to Cebu from Dumaguete City late morning for the commemorative program at the SM City Cebu where the awarding of scholarship grants and training vouchers will be done.
